Manchester Islamic Educational Trust

The client

Manchester Islamic Educational Trust (MIET) comprises of three independent schools; two secondary and one preparatory, named Kassim Darwish (KD) Grammar School for Boys, Manchester Islamic High School for Girls and Manchester Muslim Prep School. The Trust is long-established and collectively provides an empowering, faith based education with the vision of developing a new generation of proud British Muslims, underpinned by their core values of Faith, Learning and Life.

The brief

Following an extensive selection process, MIET chose Creativeworld to support them in achieving an improved brand reputation to differentiate their schools from local competitors, boost student recruitment and ensure consistent external perceptions of all the multi academy trust’s schools. Our wealth of experience developing brand strategies for schools meant we were a perfect fit for MIET’s school marketing requirements.

Our solution

Creativeworld recognised the need to begin this project from a strategic standpoint to make certain that the Trust’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board understood why a new brand direction was needed to achieve their goals. We know that clarity and active support from leaders is key to a successful education brand strategy implementation, so we worked with each of the school’s SLTs through individual discussions to make this happen.

Following this, we carried out a thorough school marketing audit including primary research via focus groups with the Board, staff, students and parents to attain feedback on current perceptions of the Trust, including the brand, core values, ethos and its future. Analysis of the research enabled us to determine the strategic direction needed and we developed a report of recommendations for presenting to the Board. This was centered around development of a school branding and marketing strategy, covering a re-brand and associated marketing elements, including digital marketing for schools solutions, as well as suggestions regarding an internal re-structure to ensure staff roles were aligned with this new strategic direction, from both an internal and external perspective.

MIET chose to implement all of our proposed recommendations, encompassing new brand development, brand guidelines and a communications toolkit, which we created with a focus upon the Trust’s core values of “Faith, Learning, Life”. Subsequently, in line with the new branding, for each school we designed, built and developed new school websites, school prospectuses (printed prospectus and digital interactive versions), school videos, internal and outdoor school signage, social media support and branding for schools, and delivered a student recruitment campaign.

As a result, MIET now has brand consistency across all three schools; they’ve since achieved over 3 times as many student applications for their previously under subscribed schools and overall, are now clearly showing their external stakeholders they are completely aligned in sharing the same values and strategic direction.

Accrington Academy

The brief

Accrington Academy is committed to providing an education with character. The Lancashire based secondary academy and sixth form commissioned Creativeworld for our education marketing and advertising expertise to reflect this vision, requiring creation of a new prospectus design and support with student recruitment for an open evening event.

The academy put their trust in our long-established marketing for education knowledge to effectively communicate their student centric ethos and mission to bring out the ‘best in everyone’.

Our solution

We created a vibrant prospectus design refresh in line with the current Accrington Academy branding; portrayal of their innovative values and supportive, inclusive ethos being at the forefront of our design approach. Subsequently, we developed a new prospectus design and print run for the academy sixth form, utilising the same styling for brand consistency and introducing complementary colours to showcase their career pathway strategy, which helps students identify the best course choice for their goals and passions.

Thrilled with the prospectus design refresh, the academy additionally wanted this to run throughout their digital marketing, display materials and external signage. We produced and managed a paid social media advertising campaign on Facebook and Instagram to promote the sixth form open evening; a quick and effective method to reach the academy’s specific target audience.

Complementing the digital marketing activity, we delivered the design and production of outdoor railing banners to advertise the open evening and further drive the student recruitment campaign, as well as the creation of pull-up banners for the main academy, to assist in illustrating their key brand values and extra-curricular enrichment opportunities at future events.

Ribblesdale High School

Ribblesdale High School

Ribblesdale High School appointed Creativeworld to redevelop their online presence, to include their Main School website, Parents website and Transition website for Year 7 students.

As part of the designs for the website we considered pathways for each of their key stakeholders and how each area would differ slightly in colour whilst remaining consistent with the Ribblesdale Brand. Our brief was to evolve the existing website design, in doing so we also wanted to create space for more expansive imagery utilising the full width of the screen. Our web designers introduced a fixed banner to house the School logo, designed to complement the brand and signature Ribblesdale curve depicting the hill upon which Clitheroe castle sits.

In addition we created an Ribblesdale ‘EdTech’ website to host virtual learning events for other schools. The Department of Education and delivery partners identified twenty schools and colleges which have demonstrated excellence in their use of technology to support teaching and learning and have the capacity to help others. Ribblesdale were identified as one of these demonstrators as part of a consortium of schools able to offer support and learning for other schools across the country.

Understanding your brand…

Creativeworld were pleased to partner with the excellent performing Heckmondwike Grammar School for their brand development and implementation across the School’s communication channels.

Full Brand Consultation…

We were commissioned by the successful Grammar School to deliver a full brand consultation and implementation, we had to ensure we met the needs of the audience as well as consider the profile of the School.

Brand Discovery…

The initial brand discovery stages (what works, what doesn’t) included a full consultation period with all stakeholders, including Staff, Parents, Communities, Students, Alumni, this was carried out through focus group work, interviews and written feedback from all groups. From this feedback a proposed new brand strategy was created, with the ideas to develop the brand and the usage.

Brand Guidelines…

We created a set of Brand guidelines as well as a toolkit to cover the main aspects of the school’s communication channels, including signage, digital media, prospectuses, stationery, presentations and internal communications literature. This has assisted the School to become more joined up with their branding across all formats.

Primary Logos

The primary HECKMONDWIKE logo is the preferred option for use on the majority of applications. However, if available space is at a premium, then the secondary landscape version can be used as an alternative to maximise legibility.

Primary Logos - Variants

For single colour applications, such as newspaper advertising, there is a single colour greyscale version of the HECKMONDWIKE logo.

There is also a single colour line mark version which can be used for less refined reproduction processes such as screen printing.

Primary Colours

Colour is an important part of the HECKMONDWIKE identity. The brand has two primary colours that differentiate the Grammar School from the Sixth Form.

The primary colour for the Grammar School is GOLD whereas the Sixth Form’s primary is Sable. Both Grammar and Sixth form utilises an accent colour of black.

Secondary Colours

To further enhance and expand the HECKMONDWIKE identity, a bold secondary colour palette has been created. This palette of 6 striking colours has been designed to compliment the primary colours in both the Grammar and the Sixth Form.

Primary Typeface

The primary font that should be used across all printed collateral is Gill Sans. There are three preferred font weights to be used, both of which have an italic version within them.

Secondary & Digital Typeface

The primary font that should be used across all printed collateral is Gill Sans. There are three preferred font weights to be used, both of which have an italic version within them.

Application Examples

STATIONERY

Examples of A4 letterhead and compliment slip.

NB: These samples have been created using the Grammar School identity. However, the general design would be applied to the Sixth Form collateral.

SIGNAGE

Examples of external and internal signage demonstrating usage of both primary and secondary logo options.

EMAIL SIGNATURES

Email branding can be overlooked, yet emails are used so frequently that they should also form part a key part of delivering the HECKMONDWIKE identity.

Email signatures are an effective way to reaffirm your brand identity. The HECKMONDWIKE email signature is designed to be responsive and to ‘re-flow’ on modern mobile devices.

NB: These samples have been created using the Grammar School identity. However, the general design would be applied to the Sixth Form collateral.

PRESENTATION MATERIAL

Microsoft® PowerPointsoftware is used extensively within both schools for creating eye-catching and informative presentations. These presentations represent another key opportunity to reaffirm the HECKMONDWIKE branding.

For consistency, the digital font ‘Lato’ should be used throughout any presentation (see earlier section on ‘Secondary & Digital Typeface’ for reference and how to obtain).

As with any other form of marketing communication, close should be paid to the colours used within (see earlier sections on both ‘Primary Colours’ and ‘Secondary Colour Palette’ for guidance).

NB: These samples have been created using the Grammar School identity. However, the general design would be applied to any Sixth PowerPointpresentations.

DE LA SALLE SCHOOL

Situation Analysis, Brand Development,
Prospectus Design & Video Production

THE CLIENT

De La Salle is a friendly, student focussed school based in St. Helens, on the outskirts of Merseyside. The School approached Creativeworld after viewing our marketing capabilities on our website, to assist them in enhancing their profile across various communication channels. After an initial situation analysis, we recommended a full-service marketing strategy for the next 18 -24 months.

WHAT WE DID

Our delivery for the 2018 intake was to create an Informative, value led Prospectus, with clean imagery throughout reflecting the environment De La Salle School has to offer. To complement this, we partnered the school to create a powerful and engaging video that was used on their open days and shared through the website and school visits. The video relays several aspects of life at De La Salle and driven by the values it reflects the opportunities for students both academically and extra-curricular.

THEIR GOAL

Ecole Ruban Vert are an acclaimed international School, that were looking to increase their profile throughout the local region whilst also trying to appeal to an international audience.

EXCELLENCE, RESPECT AND VIRTUE

A unique consideration in this project was that there needed to be various translations for the School’s website and so we implemented this as part of the build. The site now includes English and French versions, while the Spanish translated version is currently under construction. The design style submitted, accurately reflected the style and environment of the School whilst emphasising their key values of excellence, respect and virtue. The home page design included links to a Virtual Tour of the School, Events, Vacancies, Application portal, news features and a simple easy to use navigation menu for visitors to the site to move quickly and easily through the site.

INCORPORATING SOCIAL

News and Social Media play a key role in the School communications and are therefore a key focus of the web solution, to further enhance the School’s profile through the site.

The Content Management System we chose to develop the solution was based on the client’s requirements to future proof the site. An important part of this was to make sure there was plenty of flexibility to integrate with third party platforms which included a Student Application process, a Vacancy system and an exclusive Virtual Tour of the campus.

MOUNT CARMEL

R.C. HIGH SCHOOL

Website & Social Media

We were commissioned to develop and deliver a brand-new website for Mount Carmel RC High School, a proud school providing high quality education for all families in the area who share their values, beliefs and traditions.

It is a school that has also gone from strength to strength in recent years and continues to strive for nothing less than excellence in all aspects of education.

The Brief

They wanted a responsive design, with a fresh look, focussing on the core values of the school whilst maintaining the existing branding and design requirements.

As the school continues to progress, the website showcases the school to potential parents and students, whilst continuing to engage with existing ones.

It looks fantastic. Staff and parent feedback so far has been that it looks more professional, the colours are great and the navigation is much easier

THE COMPANY

Since forming in 2010 Student Castle have changed the perception of traditional private student accommodation by meeting 21st century student aspirations… The most important thing for them is that their students have the ultimate university experience and that they can facilitate a large part of that. The company now has locations in Manchester, Newcastle, London, Bristol and Cardiff.

THE BRIEF

UK leading student accommodation company, Student Castle approached us as they looked to appoint a creative agency to oversee and design all aspects of their digital marketing strategy. We were asked to design, develop and build a brand new website for the company, along with the creation of an innovative brand identity that could be incorporated throughout their marketing channels.

MAKING IT HAPPEN

In order for Student Castle to achieve their required goals our team created a bespoke website to fulfil their needs which included a full CMS and social media package. Student Castle attracts students based not only in the UK but around the world and with that in mind, it was imperative that the new site offered the ability to translate text into different languages, so that’s what we did, students can read the site in a choice of 7 languages including English, Chinese simple, Chinese traditional, Greek, Arabic and Thai. The new site also featured a unique booking system which offers the ability for students to apply for places online.

 THE DESIGN PROCCESS

With a website of this nature it was important for our team to consider who their target audience was and how we could attract them to the site on a design front. With Student Castle’s audience being mainly student based our team felt the site needed to be bright, modern and on trend whilst remaining informative throughout.
